Why This Method Works Best for Beginners

The Layer-by-Layer (LBL) method is the easiest way to learn. It divides the solving process into 7 clear steps. With consistent practice (15–30 minutes daily), most people can solve the cube in under 2 minutes within a few weeks.

Step 1: Solve the White Cross

Goal: Create a white cross on the top face while matching the side edge colors with the center pieces.

Key Algorithms

Basic Edge Flip: F R U R' U' F'

Practice positioning white edges correctly without breaking the cross.

Pro Tip: Always solve the white cross on the bottom first, then flip the cube.

Step 2: Solve the White Corners (First Layer)

Insert the four white corners to complete the white face.

Main Algorithm:

R U R' U' — Repeat until the corner is solved.

Step 3: Solve the Middle Layer Edges

Place the four middle layer edges correctly.

Right Side Algorithm:

U R U' R' U' F' U F

Left Side Algorithm:

U' L' U L U F U' F'

Step 4: Solve the Yellow Cross (Orientation of Last Layer)

Form a yellow cross on the top.

Algorithms:

F R U R' U' F' — Used for different shapes (Dot, Line, L, Cross)

Step 5: Position Yellow Corners

Move corners to correct positions (ignore orientation for now).

U R U' L' U R' U' L

Step 6: Orient Yellow Corners

Make all yellow stickers face up.

R' D' R D — Repeat on each corner.

Step 7: Permute Last Layer Edges

Final step to solve the cube completely.
